I’m entirely too short to pack an elk out horns-down unless it’s all up hill

Hannah barron outdoors

The pack-out that almost killed me! 🏔️

I’m not sure how much the head and cape weighed on this guy, but it felt like 1,000lbs trying to lug him out of the hole he fell in! We also figured out I’m entirely too short to pack an elk out horns-down unless it’s all up hill.

HUGE Thanks to everybody for coaching me out of there, even if I was a bit hard headed 😆 AND for carrying the meat out! @

  1. I feel its a natural reacton for a animal, that has been shot to head for a low , wet spot like a creek of water hole. Natures way of trying to heal the wound. I had that happen with a moose I shot years ago. That only works, if they can still run. Better if you drop them right away,
