Expedition in the Lacandon Jungle

We then returned to the city of Tuxtla and the next day we left for the Lacandon jungle, the high, the great one of Chiapas, which roaringly awaited our arrival ...

We headed towards the jungle along the highway that divides the border between Guatemala and Mexico. It was incredible to see how one part of the mountain range on the horizon belonged to Mexico and the other to another country.

After 8 hours we arrive at the Las Guacamayas Ecotourism Center, a hotel full of life, full of green, nestled in the jungle next to the river.

It was November 2, the day so celebrated throughout Mexico, so we took a tour of the townhouses to see their altars, it was a very pleasant experience because we could taste different Mexican sweets that the ladies made in their homes.

We spent the night under a thunderstorm and heavy rain. I remember laying down in the hammock outside my room and couldn't stop smiling, listening to the rain and thunder in the distance.

All my life I had wanted to spend a night in the rainforest, I felt happier than anywhere.

Waking up in the Lacandon Jungle is as if you were just beginning to dream, the roars of the saguaros were our alarm at dawn, roaring loudly in the high treetops.

Its roar can be heard from up to three kilometers away, for me, it was feeling inside the scene of a movie, that movie that when I was a child aroused my adrenaline and curiosity to know the world.

So we went to do one of the jungle trails, it was called "Saraguato Interpretive Trail", we spent about two hours "birding", literally.

We look for different species of birds, calling them with a cell phone application that imitates the call of the bird that you want.

It was a very relaxing walk, except for the mosquitoes, of course, to which my body was already very used.

We saw spider monkeys playing among the treetops, eating fruits, and jumping among the branches, we also saw spiders and many insects,

In the afternoon we took a tour on the river, I felt like I was in the Jurassic Park movie!

The water was a bit choppy from the rain, but that gave it a more photogenic touch at the time, the afternoon began to fall.

We stopped to see saguaros in the trees, macaws, and toucans flying over the river perched on the shore.

We then entered the narrower tributaries and approached the point where the locals had previously seen the king of the jungle; The jaguar.

I would give anything to be able to live the experience of witnessing it, to be able to have this great one in front of me, this feline that intimidates all animals and beings in the jungle, I would get the Chinese skin just thinking about it.

The fall of the sun was advancing more and more and the landscape was painted in different colors.

The sun was peeking through the leaves of the trees, creating these beautiful rays of light that were reflected in the breeze off the water.

Then the boatman accelerates the boat to full speed! I could feel the air between my face, my hair, my arms, my whole body rocked with the movement.

When it was starting to get dark we went back to the hotel, we had dinner in the restaurant, which was next to the river bank and after talking for a while we went to rest.

We get up before dawn to go see the macaws wake up, it is a beautiful spectacle, you can see hundreds of macaws take the first flight of the day, in the highest trees of the jungle ...

We were in a dreamlike landscape, the trees were beautiful, there was a particular ceiba tree that could look like the one from the Lion King movie.
